Mill characteristics:

The mill uses state-of-the-art technology in mechanical and electrical/automation point of view and the quality of the finished product is guaranteed by:

  • Fix rolling line
  • Torsion-free rolling due to the H-V-H/V-UNI/H arrangement of the stands
  • Minimum tension control and tension-free rolling mode
  • Roll pass design allowing for a minimum plant shut-down for size changing
  • Roll stands of cartridge type for the entire mill, capable to support heavy rolling loads and completely interchangeable between horizontal and vertical configuration
  • Start-stop crop and dividing shears
  • Multi strand straightener for increasing of productivity
  • Straightening and cutting to length simultaneously
  • Automatic packaging, tying and weighting of the finished product
  •  AC drives solution
  • Latest generation of Automation, using known brand components

Equipment layout considerations:

• Compact layout according to latest technology to minimize the cost of investment in the structure and civil implementation

• Installation of rolling line equipment at the level of 5.00+ due to the limitations of soil mechanics and also the ease of performing installation works such as piping and cable laying as well as the ease of repairs and maintenance.

• Installation of electrical rooms in the area behind the rolling line to minimize the cabling activities.

• Construction of repair shop and equipment for roll and guide preparation shop in the closest possible position to the rolling line

• Optimum location of blooms, billets and products warehouse

Rolling mill arrangement:

1. Blooms and billets feeding and delivery system to the Re-heating furnace

2. Walking beam reheating furnace with a capacity of 100 tons per hour

3. The system of receiving hot billets from the furnace, descaling and delivering it to the rolling line

4. The continuous rolling line including 7 stands in the roughing group area and 8 stands in the finishing group area and including horizontal, vertical, convertible and universal stands.

5. Two in-line shears of start/stop type for cropping of head and tail of rolling stocks and chopping in emergency case.

6. Dividing shear for cutting the products into multiples of 6 or 12 and direct it to the cooling bed.

7. Cooling bed entrance roller table with lifting aprons to guide the product to the cooling bed

8. Cooling bed with a length of 78 meters to cool the product to a temperature below 100 degrees Celsius

9. Multi strand Straightener machine for straightening of the products

10. Two disc saw machines to cut the product to commercial lengths of 6 and 12 meters

11. Automatic product bundling and weighing system and its transfer to the product warehouse

12. Hydraulic systems, lubrication and grease units located in the different areas of rolling mill line

13. Automatic change table for quick changing of stands in finishing mill area.

14. Robot for fast replacement of rolls of finishing stands group located in the roll preparation shop.

15. Seven overhead cranes for operation services and maintenance purpose.
